As I’m writing this we’re almost in the month of November. I woke up this morning feeling a little better from my headache last night that was probably caused by hormones and watching the Dodgers play 12 of 18 innings in the World Series last night. It didn’t keep me from writing in my journal though.
As you can tell, journaling is my jam. When I learned about mindfulness journal prompts, of course I had to check them out. It led me down a rabbit hole of mindful journaling, which is similar to a favorite journaling technique of mine that I learned from Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way.
If you’ve never tried either of these journaling techniques, you’re in the right place. I have 30 mindfulness journal prompts that will help you reflect, become more self-aware, and feel more present in how you think, feel, and act.

What I love about these prompts is how they help you get in touch with yourself emotionally, mentally, and physically in a way that is gentle. They can help you see patterns emerge in your life that give you the opportunity to change it if you choose to.

How To Use Mindfulness Journal Prompts
If you’re a beginner to journaling, I recommend baby steps. What I mean by this is answering just one journal prompt a day so you don’t get overwhelmed.
Journaling is a journey and a process. Which is why taking baby steps is the best approach. I also recommend the following:
- Journal in a space that is quiet and calm.
- Find a time to journal when your brain is alert.
- Write the first answer that comes to mind to prevent overthinking.
- Be gentle with yourself.
- Don’t judge what you write.

When I first started my journaling practice, I made all kinds of mistakes. I often judged what I wrote and even stopped journaling for a while because of this.
