The benefits of knowing your likes and dislikes.
This list can help you become more self-aware, which can help you know yourself better so you can understand the way you think, make decisions, express yourself, and behave. Being more aware of yourself will make you more aware of how your actions affect other people.
Increasing awareness of your likes and dislikes may reveal talents, skills, strengths, and weaknesses that you might not have been conscious of.
Knowing your likes and dislikes could even help you put up limits and boundaries for yourself so you’re not wasting your energy on things you’d rather not do.
You can create your own list after going through the ones I listed here and have fun exploring your own likes and dislikes.
Making a list of likes and dislikes.
What we like and dislike can depend on so many factors like our genes, particular experiences, the people who raised us, our peers, influencers, our environment, and our emotions.
Some of the things I list here may resonate with you. For example, some common likes are hobbies and interests you might already partake in, like gardening, playing a musical instrument, or knitting.
Others might not resonate with you and can depend on the context of the situation.
For example, my husband loves the rain and doesn’t mind getting wet. I, on the other hand, like the sound and cleansing effect of rain, but I don’t like how it casts a shadow or getting caught in it.
Remember that likes and dislikes are relative. What you like, someone else might not. What you find repulsive, might be attractive to someone else.
You can live in the same family, eat the same foods, share the same space, read the same books, but still have your own distinct set of likes and dislikes.
Regardless of where you came from and where you’re at right now, you can learn how to write your own list of likes and dislikes with the following examples.
You can even copy and paste the list of likes and dislikes for your own reference and make one of your own.
Last thoughts.
