If I could pick a season for my life right now, it would be autumn. Autumn is about slowing down and getting ready for deep rest & renewal.
The natural cycle in the northern hemisphere to prepare for the upcoming cold is by shedding the old & directing energy towards inner growth.
Funny because I never liked autumn, until a couple of years ago. The cold and gray were once a downer for me. Now I see and feel it differently.
Perhaps it’s the season of my life right now, but I’m drawn to coziness more and more. I’m listening to my body, hearing inner guidance, simplifying my life, shedding the unnecessary, and concentrating my energy on what’s important.

Creating Your Cozy Journaling Space
Your autumn journaling routine won’t be complete without a cozy space to write in.
My cozy journaling space usually looks like this: in my warm bed, before everyone is up, quietly writing with my favorite notebook and pen.
You don’t have to journal in bed. You can do it anywhere you feel is cozy, comfy, and warm.
Here are some ideas to help you create your own cozy, comfy journaling space:
- Light a candle with a cozy scent like vanilla or cinnamon.
- Wrap yourself in a warm blanket.
- Have a pot of tea or coffee near you.
- Find a comfy corner or section of your home.
- Put on some soft music or white noise.
- Sit by a bright window or cozy fire.
- Go to a quiet cafe or library.
Why You Need To Slow Down.
Resets Your Mind And Body.
In a world that’s in constant motion & productivity, slowing down can feel like a luxury. In reality, slowing down is a necessity. When you pause and give yourself permission to breathe, you’re allowing your mind and body to reset.
Your nervous system gets a chance to rest, your thoughts have time to settle, and your energy can finally be replenished. Contrary to what you may think, slowing down isn’t about doing nothing, it’s about creating room for clarity, peace, and presence.
Makes Life Feel More Joyful & Intentional.
When you slow down, you notice things that make life feel so much more joyful. They’re often the little things that we miss when we’re rushing from one task to the next.
Things like taking pleasure in making a sandwich for lunch, listening to rustle of leaves before they fall from the trees, feeling a burst of cool autumn breeze on your face, hearing kids play in the distance, and enjoying the quiet comfort of your morning cup of joe.
Slowing down helps you appreciate what you already have by being present with what’s right in front of you. You start to realize that happiness isn’t hidden in the next achievement or milestone. It’s woven into the simple rhythms of daily life. When you give yourself permission to move gently and savor the moment, even ordinary days begin to feel extraordinary.
